Please reach us at FelineFreedomSociety@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Feline Freedom Society is primarily located in Greenville, North Carolina, but we work to assist surrounding communities throughout Eastern North Carolina as we are able. While our focus is on this region, we do not limit our adoptions to Eastern NC—we’re happy to travel within a reasonable distance to help our cats find their perfect forever home.
We are a heart-centered cat rescue dedicated to providing a safe haven for special needs cats in Eastern North Carolina., started by a group of rescuers who came together to give overlooked and vulnerable cats the second chance that they deserve. We believe every cat deserves a chance to live a happy, healthy life—no matter their physical or medical challenges. Whether they’re blind, deaf, have mobility issues, or are missing limbs our mission is to give them the love, support, and care they need to thrive. We’re more than just a rescue; we’re a community that advocates for these wonderful, resilient cats who need a little extra help finding their forever homes. Through careful, compassionate care, we work to ensure they live their best lives, both in foster care and beyond.
You can reach Feline Freedom Society in several convenient ways! Send us a message through our Facebook or Instagram pages, email us at FelineFreedomSociety@gmail.com, or simply click the chat button on our website—we’re always happy to hear from you!
To adopt a pet from Feline Freedom Society, simply fill out our adoption application on our website. Once submitted, our team will review your application, contact your references, and reach out to you with any follow-up questions or next steps. Our standard adoption fee is $100 unless otherwise noted, which helps cover the cost of vetting and care.
Every cat adopted through Feline Freedom Society is spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. We ensure all of our cats are fully vetted to the best of our knowledge before going to their new homes, including necessary medical treatments and preventative care. Additionally, we are fully transparent about any known pre-existing conditions or potential future medical needs observed while the cat is in foster care, so adopters can feel informed and prepared.
We aim to host at least two adoption events each month to give our adoptable cats and kittens the opportunity to meet potential families in person. At these events, we also display a binder featuring additional adoptable cats—such as those who are shy, not comfortable in busy environments, or currently available for pre-adoption or foster-to-adopt.
You can also view our pinned post on Facebook, which is updated daily with the current status of each cat (available, adoption pending, foster-to-adopt, etc.). Each cat has a detailed “rescue résumé” with their personality, needs, and preferences to help ensure the best possible match.
We do offer one-on-one meet and greets and foster-to-adopt opportunities on a case-by-case basis, but an approved adoption application is required before moving forward with either option.
Absolutely! Renters are welcome to adopt from Feline Freedom Society. We just ask that you provide the name of your landlord or leasing office and are honest with both us and them about having a cat in your home. Our goal is to ensure that every cat is placed in a stable, pet-friendly home where they can thrive—whether you rent or own.
Yes! Many of our cats and kittens do well in homes with other cats, dogs, and/or children. Each animal in our care has a unique personality, and we provide detailed information about their behavior, preferences, and compatibility in their rescue résumé to help ensure the best possible match. If you're not sure which cat would be the best fit for your household, we're happy to help guide you through the process.
Yes, you are welcome to adopt multiple cats from Feline Freedom Society—either at the same time or on separate occasions. We believe that lots of cats do better in pairs (unless otherwise noted) so we fully support this! We love when our adopters return to grow their feline family! As always, each adoption requires an approved application to ensure that every cat is placed in a home that meets their individual needs and personality.
You can always return a cat to Feline Freedom Society, regardless of the circumstances or how much time has passed since the adoption. Our adoption contract includes a commitment that if you are no longer able to provide adequate care, if the cat doesn’t work out in your home, or if something happens to you and your planned caregiver cannot care for the cat, you will return the cat to us. We also recommend informing your family and friends about this policy to ensure the cat’s safety and well-being if you are unable to return the cat yourself. Our priority is always the best care and future for every cat we place.
Although we are not yet a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are actively working toward that status. In the meantime, we gratefully accept donations of supplies such as food, litter, toys, and other essentials. We also welcome cash donations via Venmo, Cash App, or in person at our adoption events. Please note that, at this time, donations are not tax-deductible. If you’re interested in donating or want more details, please feel free to message us directly for more information. Your support means the world to us and the cats we care for!
We welcome volunteers who want to help support our mission in a variety of ways! You can volunteer by assisting at our adoption events, helping with cat care in foster homes, or supporting us through donations of supplies and resources. If you’re interested in getting involved, please reach out to us via message so we can discuss current opportunities and how you can best contribute. Every bit of support makes a big difference for the cats we serve!
If you find a stray cat or kitten, please feel free to message us for guidance and support. We do our best to help, but please understand that we rely entirely on foster homes, which can be full at times, so we may not be able to take in every animal immediately. We may also ask for a donation to help cover the costs of caring for any animals we do take in, as much of our work is self-funded.
In the meantime, keep the stray in a safe, quiet, and warm place—preferably indoors—away from other pets until you can get veterinary care. Be sure to check for a microchip, which can help reunite the cat with its owner. Basic vet care includes checking for fleas, providing food and fresh water, and, if possible, getting the animal checked by a vet for vaccinations, testing, and spay/neuter. We’re happy to offer advice on how to care for strays and connect you with local resources whenever possible. Your patience and care can make all the difference!
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a humane method used to manage and reduce feral and stray cat populations by trapping cats, spaying or neutering them, and then returning them to their original location. Espeically used when the cat is feral and not able to be indoors. While TNR is not the primary focus of our mission, we do what we can to support these efforts. We have some contacts and resources that we can share to help guide you in accessing TNR services in your area. Please feel free to reach out to us for more information.
