Submitting an intake or owner surrender request does not guarantee that Feline Freedom Society will be able to accept the cat(s) into our program.
As a foster-based rescue, our ability to take in cats is entirely dependent on available foster homes, medical resources, and funding. At times we may be at full capacity and unable to accept additional cats, even in urgent situations.
If we are able to assist, a member of our team will contact you to discuss the cat’s needs, temperament, medical history, and next steps. Additional information or photos may be requested during this process. We may ask if you are able to be a foster for us depending on the situation.
Please understand that our primary responsibility is ensuring that every cat already in our care continues to receive proper housing, medical attention, and support. For this reason, we must carefully evaluate every intake request.
By submitting this form, you acknowledge that:
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to help as many cats as possible.
If you find a stray cat or kitten, please feel free to message us for guidance and support, and fill out our "Stray Surrender Application" with as much detail as possible. We do our best to help, but please understand that we rely entirely on foster homes, which can be full at times, so we may not be able to take in every animal immediately. We may also ask for a donation to help cover the costs of caring for any animals we do take in, as much of our work is self-funded.
In the meantime, keep the stray in a safe, quiet, and warm place—preferably indoors—away from other pets until you can get veterinary care. Be sure to check for a microchip, which can help reunite the cat with its owner. Basic vet care includes checking for fleas, providing food and fresh water, and, if possible, getting the animal checked by a vet for vaccinations, testing, and spay/neuter. We’re happy to offer advice on how to care for strays and connect you with local resources whenever possible. Your patience and care can make all the difference!
If the cat was previously adopted from Feline Freedom Society, we will always take the cat back—no matter the circumstances. Our adopters should never feel alone or stuck if they can no longer keep one of our cats.
For cats not originally adopted from us, we do not normally accept owner surrenders. Our rescue is focused on emergency and special medical-needs cases and operates entirely through foster homes, which means our space is very limited. However, if your cat has special needs or a medical condition, we may be able to find a spot depending on foster and resource availability. We encourage you to fill out our "Owner Surrender Application" so we can review your situation. Every application is carefully considered.
Please understand that you may receive an email stating that we are currently full and unable to take in your cat. That email will provide you with advice gfor your situation based on our experiences and other community resources that may be able to assist you. Thank you for your understanding and for caring enough to seek the best possible outcome for your cat.
You can always return a cat to Feline Freedom Society, regardless of the circumstances or how much time has passed since the adoption. Our adoption contract includes a commitment that if you are no longer able to provide adequate care, if the cat doesn’t work out in your home, or if something happens to you and your planned caregiver cannot care for the cat, you will return the cat to us. We also recommend informing your family and friends about this policy to ensure the cat’s safety and well-being if you are unable to return the cat yourself. Our priority is always the best care and future for every cat we place.
If you need to return a cat that you had adopted from us previously for whatever reason, please call or text the board member that you worked with during the adoption. If you do not have their number anymore, or don't get a response within 24 hours, please email us at felinefreedomsociety@gmail.com and/or message us on social media. We will get back to you as soon as possible, and we will always take our adopted cats back into our care and find space. We may also require you to fill out our "Owner Surrender Application" for paperwork and record keeping purposes.
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a humane method used to manage and reduce feral and stray cat populations by trapping cats, spaying or neutering them, and then returning them to their original location. Especially used when the cat is feral and not able to be indoors. While TNR is not the primary focus of our mission, we do what we can to support these efforts. We have some contacts and resources that we can share to help guide you in accessing TNR services in your area. Please feel free to reach out to us for more information.
